Evolutionary Genomics

Welcome to the Kern lab
Hi there! Our research focuses on variation among individuals in the genomes of Drosophila and humans. In particular we are interested in the role that natural selection has played in shaping patterns of genomic variation. Look around you- casual observation of the natural world leads to the intuition that organisms are superbly adapted to their environments. We are interested in dissecting these adaptations at the genomic level, and in turn, learning about the nature of the adaptive process.
